Wild Cattle Creek Estate Vintage & Tasting Notes
Our wines are crafted in the Upper Yarra Valley from fruit picked by hand in our own estate vineyards. We pride ourselves on producing quality fruit for our premium wines. The cool climate and fertile soil of the Upper Yarra area combined with excellent vine management and growing techniques result in a quality wine for all occasions.
Each of the wines listed below are available for tasting at our Cellar Door. We would love the opportunity to take you through a relaxed, tutored wine tasting here at Wild Cattle Creek Estate.
Sparkling Chardonnay/Pinot Noir 2008
A classic blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Bottle maturation has produced a fresh, creamy wine with delicate brioche flavours. The palate is full with a clean, crisp and dry finish.
Pinot Gris 2010
Clean citrus aromas of lemon and lime with a suggestion of rose petal and nougat. A light, lively palate of lemon and pear with suggestions of vanilla.
Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Aromas dominated by Citrus fruits and lychee with a suggestion of grassiness. The palate is generous with layers of citrus and fine acid to finish crisp and clean.
Riesling 2009
This wine is fresh, displaying intense floral and citrus aromas with a distinctly crisp finish. The zesty palate has lovely lemon-accented flavours. Very versatile, it is an ideal accompaniment to most foods. Ideal drinking now, the wine will also benefit from further cellaring.
Chardonnay 2007
Pale gold in colour with aromas of stone fruits and honey. The palate shows a clean, refined elegance with buttery flavours, a hint of peach and subtle restrained oak.
Viognier 2008
Bronze Medal Aust. Small Winemakers Show 2008
Aromas of ripe apricot and orange blossom. A medium to full-bodied wine with intense stone fruit characters. A wine of balanced acidity, finishing clean and dry.
Sparkling Merlot 2008
Enticing aromas of dark berries and chocolate. A rich palate of sweet fruit characters with rolling tannins and a dry finish.
Rose 2009
Made from Merlot grapes. Aromas of Rose Water and Turkish Delight. The palate exhibits hints of cream and lashings of Maraschino Cherries with a focused dry finish.
Pinot Noir 2008
Light ruby red in colour. Aromas of dusty spices with suggestions of clove overlaying glace cherry. A youthful light French influence with a caramel finish on the palate.
Merlot 2006
Wine exhibits rich ripe intense berry flavours with excellent integration of vanillin oak characters. A well balanced wine having smooth palate, good length and long finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2008
Aromas of ripe berries and plum. A full brambly berry palate suggestive of raspberry and blackberry and hints of plum with earthy grape tannin. Subtle oak gives expression to the fruit driven nature of this wine.
Shiraz 2006
Wine exhibits rich ripe intense berry flavours and supple hints of spice and pepper characters. A well- balanced wine having firm tannins, good length and lingering finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Deep red in colour with violet tints. Aromas of red berries and cassis. A full palate if wild berry and cigar box flavours with chalky fine grained tannin. This wine can be enjoyed now or can be aged for up to ten years.
